The Brasseries Atlas hosts about 20 studio facilities with activities ranging from ceramics, metal work, cement and sculpture, textile design, screen printing, woodwork, bicycle, car and motorcycle mechanics and soundsyste workshop, LYL Radio and more. Group studio visits were initiated to facilitate the dialogue between the inhabitants of Brasseries Atlas who do not rent a studio and those who only work in the studios. One key aspect of the studio situation at Brasseries Atlas is the established rule that studio practices must not repeat in order to share tool that are diversified and varied. Each practitioners’ tools are made common to the use of others.
From those, we have experienced a better understanding of each of our practices, solidified links between us and are finding that meeting on a semi-regular basis allows us to analyse and become critical of our own work through the prism of having to present it. The benefit of the group makes of these visits an informal yet constructive way to exchange about work.
